Description |
| 7/2/2008 | New version created to handle multiple simulateous testing windows and drops the requirement of entry of school code for test login. |
| 8/24/2007 | Windows and OS X updates, including a new Windows installation package. This update will be required to be taken before being used to assess students this fall. Notable among several improvements are:
|
| 10/5/2006 | New Windows and OS X updates and installation packages. This installation is not required if autoupdates have been taken. These installation packages include all current updates and do not to require any autoupdates. The major need for this update is to provide functionality for playback of MP3 format audio streams/files. Any computer to be used for the Computer Reads Aloud option either needs a forced update or reinstallation of this new download. |
| 8/23/2006 | Windows and OS X updates, including a new Windows installation package. This update will be required to be taken before being used to assess students this fall. |
| 4/6/2006 | Optional Windows Update that includes retry option button in data communication error dialog box. |
| 3/15/2006 | New Windows and Mac OS X install version s that include all updates. These updates include:
BUG Mac OS X 10.2: A new Java refresh bug on Mac OSX 10.2 was introduced by changes made to incorporate screen reader functionality in NCDesk. It will show up on navigation to the End of Section screen during testing or test simulation. The bug manifests itself as a blank or partially blank screen. The workaround is to minimize the NCDesk window (press the '-' button on the title bar) and then click on the NCDesk icon to redisplay it.
|
| 10/21/2005 | New Windows and Mac OS X install versions that include all updates (two updates where posted for autoupdate on 10/17/2005). These updates fixed a spreadsheet problem when poor cell referencing was used in a formula. |
| 10/14/2005 | New Windows and Mac OS X install versions with bug fixes and final updates prior to opening of the testing window. |
| 9/8/2005 | New Windows and Mac OS X install versions with bug fixes (mainly for database and spreadsheet). Also updated ncdesk_shortcut.vbs (script for fixing multiple java installed computers) so that it works on all Windows versions. |
| 8/19/2005 | A new Windows install program replaced the 8/18 version. The only change is that this one requires JRE 1.5.0_03 to be installed before NCDesk can be installed. |
| 8/19/2005 | The third major release was posted within an install package for supported Macintosh OS X computers. Improvements include new OS X install packaging, better charts in the spreadsheet, better formula handling in the spreadsheet, users can now copy and paste from the system clipboard into the editor, mail, and window manager, file size limits are less restrictive, and bug fixes. |
| 8/18/2005 | The third major release was posted within an install application for supported Windows computers. Improvements include better charts in the spreadsheet, better formula handling in the spreadsheet, users can now copy and paste from the system clipboard into the editor, mail, and window manager applications, file size limits are less restrictive, and bug fixes. |
| 4/20/2005 | An update to the Macintosh OS X install package was released. This installation package addresses errors found in the database filter dialog of NCDesk when running under the 10.2 version of OS X. |
| 4/18/2005 | The Windows install application was updated to address user permission error problems that have been recognized after the Windows patch updates released last week. Also noted on the install instructions is a command that can be used to set the permissions correctly so that all users can run NCDesk correctly (if this becomes an issue). |
| 4/13/2005 | The Macintosh OS X install package was updated to include the newer elements or NCDesk mentioned below. If this installation package is used, the Autoupdate feature will not find or retrieve anything new. This install package does not come with an install script -- the installation instructions were changed to describe a copy process. We will be working to create a better install script for future releases. |
| 4/10/2005 | An update to the Windows installation package was posted. This installation package update includes newer elements of NCDesk than the installation version posted on 4/4/2005. Therefore, if the 4/4/2005 installation package was used to install NCDesk, then NCDesk's Autoupdate can be used to update itself to this version. If this installation package is used, the Autoupdate feature will not find or retrieve anything new. |
| 4/6/2005 | Macintosh "Classic" OS development canceled. No more NCDesk versions for this OS will be developed. |
| 4/5/2005 | A new Macintosh OS X installation package was posted. There will be updates to this release later this week. Autoupdate will function and any new install packages will include updates. |
| 4/4/2005 | A new Windows installation package was posted. There will be updates to this release later this week. Autoupdate will function and any new install packages will include updates. |
| 11/24/2004 | A new installation application for NCDesk on Macintosh Classic computers was posted. This release IS REQUIRED to be installed over any previous Macintosh Classic release in order to administer the Online Test of Computer Skills Fall 2004 Feasibility Study. Unfortunately, auto-update on this is NOT working. Future releases will have to be installed over this version. |
| 11/22/2004 | A new installation application/package for NCDesk on Macintosh OS X was posted. This release is NOT required to be installed over any previous Macintosh OS X release. The reason for this release is to maintain differentiation between this flavor of the NCDesk components and the others. |
| 11/18/2004 | A new installation application for NCDesk on Windows OSes including all updates posted. This release is NOT required to be installed over the copy posted on 10/29/2004. The installable release that was posted on 10/29/2004 will work as long as updates can be downloaded. This release should not require any updates at this time. |
| 11/1/2004 | A copy of the spreadsheet application was released (located on the Spreadsheet Features Release Schedule page). This special release is for complying with GNU license terms for using portions of GNU licensed function libraries in the spreadsheet application. This file is NOT NEEDED to use NCDesk or to participate in any Online Test of Computer Skills administration. |
| 11/1/2004 | A self extracting archive (SEA) containing an installation application for Beta 0.01 of NCDesk for Macintosh "Classic" OS computers was released. |
| 10/29/2004 | An update to the installation application containing Beta 0.01 NCDesk for Windows was released. This update addressed some permission problems that kept NCDesk from running by a non-administrator level user account under Windows NT, 2000, and XP. NCDesk installed from the 10/17/2004 version would run as long as user permissions were Administrator level. Windows NT, 2000, and XP computers should have this version installed over the top of the current copy. An un-install is not necessary UNLESS you plan to install to a different location. |
| 10/22/2004: | The OS X disk image containing an installation application for Beta 0.01 of NCDesk for Macintosh OS X computer was released. |
| 10/18/2004: | The install application containing Beta 0.01 of NCDesk for Windows computers was released. |
